Women's Professional Soccer

So, the draft is over and the WPS is looking mighty strong. I am very proud to be a part of the league just as I am super proud to be a fan.

But now that the league launch is only...a couple months away (wow!)...what do you, the fan, think? Do you have season tickets? Are you spreading the word? How is the response?

And most of all, what can the league do for you? What kind of interaction are you looking for?

And dont you worry, as the league launch gets closer you will see a whole lot more of WPS around your town and FSC.

Did you catch WPS Thursday night on FSC?

I would like to see them Promote the League in a much more visible manner... they seem to be taking a "Soccer clubs is our only fans approach" I would like to know that that anywhere people gather, the WPS will be doing promotions... Not just to Soccer gatherings... Gotta catch the parents of the young children who may be deciding to put Girls (and Boys) nto U-8 and Pee-wee soccer

The league should reach out to the young girls...it's future players. Offer Soccer clubs special tickets, incentives, contests, recognize young players with promise, encourage girls to want to play this sport!
Send players to tournaments and clinics to teach and inspire. My daughter finally feels like she can go somewhere with this sport she loves so much! Give her and the others like her a better chance at that dream!!!!

yes i totally agree with the, "why isnt sbfc closer to nyc?"
i thought they should call it the jersey sky blue, but like
i dont think that can chage at this point.
rutgers is down in central jersey, so i absolutely
dont understand why its ny/nj (is nj a boring state? we have shopping=]).
maybe cuz ny is a more known state? idk. ilnj.
i could really care less about the location (because its close
to home and i dont want it to change XD )
so im just happy that nj has a team (to make up for the nets XD)

I would like to know the rest of the season schedule.

I have seen two sources say that the rest of the schedule would be announced tomorrow. Not sure if that's the entire league schedule or just selected teams, but we are definitely close to an announcement.

I would love to see better fiscal management, more honesty in communications with the players, prospective players and the public and less untruths...such as, The LA Sol and WPS announced signing Marta and how much she is getting paid, yet today (actually 1-5-09) they (LA Sol/WPS) post this:
Los Angeles Sol signs Japanese Midfielder Aya Miyama

LOS ANGELES - Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - The Los Angeles Sol of Women's Professional Soccer have signed Japanese midfielder Aya Miyama, the club announced today. Per club and WPS policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

So is this new policy after you told the world that Marta will earn 10x per year more than the average player?

I wish I could go to all the games, but I know I won't be able to. I'd like to be able to watch the games online (no Cable). Why isn't Fox going to broadcast the games on their Broadband network?

Go Christie, we're gonna miss you in DC!

Anyone go to the tryouts today?

Actually, you can find out what players make... you just have to know the right people...

SOL did not announce what she would make... that came from somewhere else

I'd like to see Women's Soccer News in the major papers. I get the New York Times and they never mention a thing. They do talk about Men's Soccer. How can we get them to print info on Women's Soccer?

good questions.. we're www.soccerx.co.uk from the UK and also want feedback about your league. In the UK there's concern the proposed summer league starting in 2010 will be a bad thing.. elitist. Chevy, made a great point about.. THE UK missing the double-header matches for profile raising. We're coming over to your game - boston vs sky blue in may. So.. would welcome all views from this board.. or any other. We're a small concern that's evolving..but raising the profile of ladies football not because of the dollar sign..but because we believe it's a better visual product than the men's game.
