Abby has had the nickname "Wombat" for many years as a member of the WNT. I can't say when she aquired it or if she even likes it, but it has followed her for several years.

I agree as well by defense I meant defense by the midfields and actualy defenders. Francielle had tons of time and room with noo pressure, where was the midfielders!

Uh,... Supermokh, Wombat=Wambach, if you're a fan you should know that...

Yes, I can relate to Lisa De Vanna & Cat Whitehill's feeling, at that moment, by the look of their expression, after the final whistle, it's a heart breaking, boths play very hard try to take our Freedom to super semi-final (it touch my heart). How I wish, IF my favourite, Le Bluez Sonia Bompastor were there, to help us.
Anyway, I'm proud with my Freedom Ladies yesterday, they really play hard, even our captain Wombat, is very determine to take us to the semi.
All of our Freedom players, plays the best football/soccer toward the play-off series.
We will be better team next season.
Thanks, Freedom Ladies & the coaching staffs.
To all the fans, thank you, I'm hoping you guys to be more vocal next season.
Here are my best Freedom Players for these season (2009)
1. Sonia Bompastor
2. Abby wombat
3. Lisa De Vanna
4. Cat Whitehill
5. Erin McLeod
6. Becky Sauerbrunn
7. Lori Lindsey
8. Homare Sawa.

LET'S GO FREEDOM!!! (GO BLUEZ)

FREEDOM ROCK N RULE!!!

All you need to do is take a look at Cat Whitehill or Lisa De Vanna's face after the match. That says it all. These ladies worked hard and were devastated by the loss. Sometimes the pieces don't work as well. Last week, the Freedom were in the zone. Everything went right. This week, there were breakdowns. It happens. It's a game and I'm proud of our team, proud to be a season-ticket holder this year and next. Thanks, Freedom players, coaches, and fans for a great season.

I think the problem is the midfield. Yes, the defense let in ALOT of goals and needs to be improved for next season, but I think that the midfield has a large role in this. They put hardly any pressure on the other team's midfield (i am not just saying this past game it is EVERY game), there are large spaces and gaps that the other team can just pass around them in like they are cones, and let the other team's midfield take all the space they want. At times it looks like they aren't even marking anyone. This leaves the defense, who already has their own players to mark, to have to take on the midfielders responsibility as well. Why was Sky Blue able to serve the ball so easily? No pressure from mids. Why could they string a perfect long pass to Francielle who then had acres of space to take and then shoot and score? No pressure from mids. It then causes the defense to have to step or leave their own marks and get out of position with their line. Sawa and Lindsey as center mids together did not do the job. They provide no cohesiveness between the defense and forwards, mostly passing square or back, and only sometimes did one (Sawa) look aggressive offensively. Most times they just sat back and I think other teams used the space they were given to their advantage.

To Mr.President who says the Freedom offense seems to be the problem and the defense is good, you obviously don't know much at all about the Freedom. They have scored the most goals this season, 32 before the playoffs, obviously scoring is not the problem, the problem is that the defense has let shots that Kai's today where Whitehill kinda just stood there kinda sheidling but more standing... Even though the Freedom is one of the best offensive teams, with stats they are the best, but they are one of the worst defensive teams, 32 goals allowed, tied with their offensive goals is the most allowed this season before playoffs. You are completely wrong.
