I'm no soccer expert but my kids play. We like the Freedom but all the changing has made them seem unstable. Some people commenting seem to know alot about the players. I'm confused by what you are talking about with the back players. Why is there so much talk about them when they seem to have better defense than offense? I like the players I saw even though I dont know them by name that play defense. I think the problem is with scoring.

Thanks for your insight and clarification. I would like to see more of Long - I think she is dangerous, productive, and her footwork is awesome. De Vanna's speed is scary and it seems like her and Abby are finding more chemistry with each other. What do you think will happen with Sonia gone?

Another thing- (maybe this is why I was confused about the comment about Becky S. and Senty) ... Senty didn't play in either the CHI or BOS games (Singer did). In the CHI game, Singer started at leftback until Long came in and Sonia pushed back. In the BOS game, Singer started at leftback again until Kreiger subbed in and Sonia pushed back. It wasn't until the GP game that Senty played in place of Singer.

Congrats to Sonia on the All Star game. Congrats to Abby for player of the month. It should be an exciting game this weekend.

I like Krieger at RGT Middy, the sub arrangement, his use of Moros, the use of Bompastor at LFT Middy then back to outside full with a LFT Middy sub of Long. The speed and attack of the front and outside mid/back players, the chemistry of the back line and the chemistry of the right side seems to be clicking. The multi-dimensional attack with Bompastor, Gilbeau and Whitehill coming out of the back; Moros, Krieger, Sawa and Lindsey pushing in from the mid and De Vanna and Abby crushing and speeding through the defense. Then only to have Long come in on attack after their RGT side is tired, brilliant. Kreiger and Gilbeau seem to now cover each other telepathically when one would drop back or dash up. Very well orchestrated or just good chemistry. All the positions seem to work well for fast decision making which is probably what went wrong at GP with only 2 days rest. What I saw against CHI and BOS won't be beat.

Again, I did not see the GP game, so I am not sure what happened, just heard 2 from the LFT and 1 center. My comment on Becky S. and Senty stem from the CHI and BOS games.

You are spot on with the last comment. Every one from the developmental players who rarely play in games but are there for every training to the Captain and Coaches share in every victory and every loss. A bad pass, bad decision or miss-timed/lost opportunity can turn an attack into a retreat that leaves one flat. I think Gabbarra is doing a great job and I think the current line up is both solid and exciting to watch.

Go Freedom!

question to DCFreedomFan, just wondering what changes in the line up would you attribute the team coming back to 3rd place? i wonder when the highlights will be up so we can see the goals against us (and also sawa's 2 goals!). you heard 2 were from our left...but then said Senty and Becky S., who were the two left defensive players in that game, are stronger. that seems a little contradictory, but maybe i misunderstood. what did you mean by that? just wondering.
anyway you win and lose as a team. cant blame one persons mistake. hope the ladies are recovering and got some rest and that the freedom have fresh legs for saturdays match.

Here's a fun lil treat: I'm working on writing up an article on the Freedom in the Anglo-Saxon language Wikipedia... although I'm sure that I'm the only person on earth who has an interest in both Old English and the Washington Freedom. Anyhoo, link: http://ang.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Freedom

I'd say the ladies were more than just a bit tired after three matches in a week. Must be some Singer relatives in here as there is always the same trend in comment. I would say coming back to 3rd was caused by the coach's change in line up. I hear two of the GP goals were out of our left side and one was from the mid. Senty, Becky S. are stronger I think. Besides, look at the stats and you can't support the claim below. Less emotion and more analysis will win the day. I thought the back line looked as strong as I have seen on Wed night and I watched the CHI game on the tele. Looked very strong as well. I think the Q is why Lindsey and De Vanna did not start. Are they hurt? Watch our middle, it is important. Rest the line up that is working and they will persevere. Oh yes, and be objective. I am just glad Abby is back on target!

Yeah, the line-up shuffle hasn't helped, but all the teams are dealing with that. I think we were sorely missing Alex Singer in the last two games. She plays solid D and it's rare that she's caught out of position. The Freedom have given up more goals than any other team in the league. It's something the coaching staff needs to address if we want to improve.
