The Washington Post said Christie suffered a fractured right tibia.

I can't find the status of Christie Shaner either. Did anyone see the reply on TV? It looked like her leg (below her knee) almost flopped up in the air. Totally made me cringe...

Amazing game for sure! Now, if we could just get someone to take the curse off the goalposts so some of these Freedom shots go in by an inch instead of hiting the post. I'm not nearly as learned or sophisticated a soccer observer as most of the folks here, but I thought the defense did a wonderful job. Great to see Sawa getting in there an mixing it up. Yelled so hard for Sonia that I lost my voice! And still can't believe the goal was called back for off-sides -- but what a great 10 seconds of exhileration before we saw the flag.

Two questions:
What's the status of the injured LA Sol player -- did she break her hip?

Why did the coaches make the bench players do suicide runs for 20 minutes after the game ended?

Score was only 1-0 on a goal scored by Marta late in the game?

What a great game though, tough loss. I thought the Freedom played an amazing game. Once Marta starts playing down the middle like that, straight to goal -- tough to stop her. The commentators talked about it the entire game, how once she moved away from the flank she would be dangerous. Loved the starting line up and positioning of players. Keep it strong for the finals!

L.A. beats the Freedom 2-1 The Freedom had there chances but they didnt go there way.For the first time this season the mid field looked like a well organized group. I have to say Kreiger looks a lot more comfortable up , and so does Sonia.with both of them up it created aalot more opportunities,while Singer and Senty provided speed and good defense outside. I would of liked to see Moros up top instead of Long in the end . They really needed the speed up top and i think that really slowed down the momemtum of the game at the end. Long would have been fine in the midfield and Moros up top for Devanna.but i have to say even with aloss it was there best look of the season.With this line up i dont think ther will be another loss. Hopefully Gabara will not change this line up because i think he"s finally found the right chemistry,with speed both up and back and good chemistry finally in the midfield. please leave it alone.

maybe she's not slow, but maybe she isn't an outside back because she was too easy to get around and i just thought was out of position and turned the ball over a bunch. or maybe she's just still off from her injury so she's not as fast. I was surprised gabarra didnt pull her sooner... Whatever the case may be, Sonia needs to be in midfield without a doubt and with her not on the backline it leaves little speed back there- thats what im a bit worried about against LA. Ithink Singer would be useful in this game rather than gilbeau because as i mentioned before i just think Gilbeau lacks some basic fundamentals of defending sometimes and LA definitely punished her last time... I think push Sonia up so she can do some damage against LA defense.

Different sport, but it reminds me of the NHL's Washington Capitals playoff effort with Mike Green. He's the NHL's highest-scoring defenseman, broke a record this season, but recovering from the flu, his performance made him look downright lazy. Hopefully both people will get back up to par.

Krieger is not a slow player when she's healthy. I've seen her blow by defenders (admittedly W-League defenders) as if they were traffic cones. I'm not sure what the problem is right now, but she has a lot of potential, so I don't want to give up on her when she's only been playing with the team for a couple of weeks.

I agree with most of what you said, however I think Gilbeau gets caught out of position too much and it caused problems for the back line. She got caught forward a lot or it would be at the wrong times or would step at the wrong times making it easy for other teams to get into the space behind her and the back 4. She has some speed, but I think Singer is a better overall defender and also had speed. I expected a lot more from Krieger but she dissappoited me in the past two games- it was awfully easy to get behind her in the Chicago game. Maybe she needs more time from her injury to be 100% but in general the she and the defense had poor performances the past two games. I say put Singer back in at either right or left back with Senty or Krieger at the other outside back. The centerbacks have done well all season but both are slow and it showed so speed is needed at the other defensive positions- esp against speedy LA. The past two games the marking up also has not been that great so hopefully that tightens up. Go back to what works. I also do not think the lineup changes got the shut outs. Sonia is much needed on offense.
