I think that the Puma skort looks ridiculous. They do realize these women will be playing soccer not tennis don't they? I think it is great how far women's soccer has come but those skorts just knocked that back about 20 years. I hope that I never see a game when they actually wear them!

My favorite is the St. Louis Athletica dark uniform. A complete review is at http://davidrenaud.blogspot.com/2009/03/soccer-fashion.html

Nice tailored jerseys, Christian.

This is shameful. Shameful. Shameful. Shameful. I would be the first one to support the WPS, having been an elite soccer player my whole life. But, the players' and the WPS's choice to wear the PUMA skorts is beyond gutt wrentching and one GIANT step backwards in women's sports. It makes me sick to my stomach. Puma, and the WPS, you've just lost a fan and a customer. What a shame.

I am appalled and horified at the sexist uniforms that Puma has "introduced" into women's soccer. I really thought that women's football had progressed beyond this. Shame on you Puma for reducing women's soccer to a regressive fashion statement and shifting the focus away from these amazing athletes and back to their gender roles as objects to be looked at. Designed with a female player in mind? Which player? Certainly not me or my teammates. I will be starting a letter campaign tomorrow and will no longer support Puma or its products.

I cannot believe this... wrap. Have we made no progress at all? Do we have to sexualize and trivialize women's soccer with uniforms like this? Is this the message we want to send to girls (and boys, for that matter?) Shame on you Puma. Shame on you WPS. I will boycott Puma products and I can't see myself supporting this league, if this is what they want to be known for.

The WPS comment below says the skorts/wraps are optional and won't be worn in games. It also says, "The wraps were designed with the female player in mind." Even if the wraps won't be worn in games, the message is loud and clear about what PUMA and the WPS considers proper femininity. Sure, it is nice that it is "optional" these days, but have we really come only this far since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in the 1940s and 50s? This "option" is a step backward.

The athletes and administrators who claim they are promoting athletic opportunities for girls need to take a good hard look at themselves in the mirror. Seriously, take some history and sociology lessons, please. You may find out that you did not have the best interest of "the female player in mind," but your bottom line.

I don't like the new uniforms. They just don't seem to sit well on the neck. You can see the players sports bra straps. The uniforms look like you can't comfortably move in them (to stiff). The arms look set in one direction with might cause more of a hassle to through the ball in. The uniformas don't look like they would be comfortable to fit all women's figures especially in the shorts. I love Hope and Lori I think they are great players but their green uniforms look plain. Thank goodness that the "League of their Own" skirt-wrap is detachable bc it looked as if PUMA was trying to make the uniforms a little to girlie, just bc it a new Womens League. Puma did a bad job on the uniforms...Bad!!!! but i am still happy about the new Women's League and i can't wait to see all the players.

I have been agitated all day by the skorts. This is so sexist and retro. Regardless of the fact that they are optional, they are a terrible idea.

One of the more unique elements of the WPS collection put on display are “ wraps” that were made as an additional piece for the Los Angeles Sol, Boston Breakers, FC Gold Pride and Sky Blue FC. It’s a complement to the shorts and definitely something different.

They are completely optional and will not be worn in games. The wraps are removable and can be detached from the shorts with easy to remove buttons.

PUMA’s wrap takes cues from the trends in female sports gear today, as well as fashion, such as the popularity of technical running skirts. The wraps were designed with the female player in mind.

I just saw Kristine and Hope on the Today Show and they said the skort thing is a "wrap" and just an accessory. THANK GOD!

The skort is a set back. You have got to be kidding. Does anyone remember "A League of Their Own"?!?!?!? I agree with the other comments, I SERIOUSLY hope these were just a promotional thing. Although, even as a promotion those are terrible.
