back in time: my mother & sister

Remember when I said I would get better about blogging? That was about 2 months ago. If WPS COO Mary Harvey can blog several times per week, then I say to myself 'self... we MUST blog more if the COO finds time to blog!!!'.

So the irony of this post is that I'm going to eventually incorporate a link to someone else's words.

I grew up in a pocket-neighborhood called South Clinton in Clinton, Iowa. We were a 'pocket' because we were surrounded by either the Mississippi River, or train tracks. Or… Continue

Fasten your seatbelt...

I resolve to be better at this blogging thing. It has been so long since I have been gracing you with my literature.
The good news is that I am so busy here in the Red Stars (frozen) annex, that I haven't had time. So prepare for a journey here people!

Went into the Holiday break feeling good about the upcoming year, of course, because it is WPS-2009! What would have been a nice relaxing sit-at-home-and-do-much-about-nothing break was rattled by a tooth ache that was delivered to me the week be… Continue

I am a WonderGirl

So, here I was fighting a bit of a cold all last week. You know, sinus congestion, a lot of kleenux use at work (splurge on the kind with 'lotion' in it... your nose will thank you). It is approaching winter in Chicago. You know what that means? That means I wish I could hibernate... I'll reappear approximately just before WPS opening weekend kick off. Deal? So the Red Stars Director of Operations doesn't exactly dig that idea, but I dislike the cold that much. My friend Jennae LOVES the winter.… Continue

Thanks Alyse, I enjoy making videos and I love soccer. So put them both together and you get the best of both worlds. I really did enjoy making the video, it was a lot of fun and I am glad I had the opportunity to do it. Thanks again!

Hee Hee, I know, I've been trying to think of great names for a Utah team. Maybe the Mormon Seagulls or Crickets. It's a tough one to figure out. ;)

I think Mamma Sawyer might stick, that would be a great pen name, no one would have a clue it was me.

I was very disappointed that some security at the USWNT vs Ireland game was strict. They didn't allow my son and I to migrate to another section in the first half of the game. My eight year old son and I were sitting quietly in an almost empty northwest corner section - it was a very unpopular section, in fact there were a total of four fans sitting there (it was the goal the US was defending the first half). The action occcurred at the other end the first half. Security asked to see our tickets and then actually ordered my son and I to move and sit in our right section, or else we'd be asked to leave. I explained to him that my son had brought homemade signs, and his signs could not be seen in our right seats, in the front row of section 118, because of the large portable advertisement boards in place. He told us we had to move. I cannot believe that in a half empty Toyota Park, security would be so strict about where fans sat. Interestingly, when the teams switched ends, and the US shot on the north end, security allowed fans to move into that section.
