Why Are We In Philly? And By WE i mean I.

I've never been here before. By 'here' i'm basically referring to New England, and not just Philly. Is that term still used?
And no, I didn't grow up on a farm in Iowa and never travel. But actually my grandma's tavern did host an annual corn boil and pig roast. When times were really good, which they always were on the South side, there'd be a DJ and I'd get to lay in bed and listen to Elvis and George Thorogood & The Destroyers until the wee hours of the morning (i lived just down the bloc… Continue

An Unconventional Path to Working in Sports

Hi Sportosphere! It's 2010 and i'm on my 3rd blog post in less than 2 months. I feel like we're actually getting to know each other rather intimately at this point. AND to boot, I'm not even subconsciously sending out pleas of help to assist me with my job. With that being said and on a completely unrelated note:

Washington Freedom President Mark Washo recently posted a blog "Top 9 Ways to Break Into Sports"… Continue

Housing a Red Stars Player & Other Questions About Your Life....

Hello.

As Player Services Manager for the Chicago Red Stars, one of my duties is to assist the players with various things that relate to them moving into market (or into another country altogether for some): getting settled, adjusted, and retrieving skinny lattes (extra hot).

Ok just kidding. About the adjustment part. I let them handle that on their own. I studied business, not psychology, people.

It's that time of year where we gather together, play Apples to Apples (I lost viciously, my h… Continue

Thanks Alyse, I enjoy making videos and I love soccer. So put them both together and you get the best of both worlds. I really did enjoy making the video, it was a lot of fun and I am glad I had the opportunity to do it. Thanks again!

Hee Hee, I know, I've been trying to think of great names for a Utah team. Maybe the Mormon Seagulls or Crickets. It's a tough one to figure out. ;)

I think Mamma Sawyer might stick, that would be a great pen name, no one would have a clue it was me.

I was very disappointed that some security at the USWNT vs Ireland game was strict. They didn't allow my son and I to migrate to another section in the first half of the game. My eight year old son and I were sitting quietly in an almost empty northwest corner section - it was a very unpopular section, in fact there were a total of four fans sitting there (it was the goal the US was defending the first half). The action occcurred at the other end the first half. Security asked to see our tickets and then actually ordered my son and I to move and sit in our right section, or else we'd be asked to leave. I explained to him that my son had brought homemade signs, and his signs could not be seen in our right seats, in the front row of section 118, because of the large portable advertisement boards in place. He told us we had to move. I cannot believe that in a half empty Toyota Park, security would be so strict about where fans sat. Interestingly, when the teams switched ends, and the US shot on the north end, security allowed fans to move into that section.
