...Probably for the first time in who knows how many years. usually i eat chicken, but i'm weird like that.
Well yes Thanksgiving, as i start to write this post, is in exactly 29 minutes here on the east coast. Just wanted to say happy turkey day to all you WPS fans out there livin' in the US (cause ya know, it's a national holiday). So i will be writing a segment i did last year; the "I'm Thankful For" list of stuff, but i'll limit it to the soccer stuff for the sake of this being a WPS websit…

In light of the recent incidents in women's/girls' soccer (
New Mexico vs. BYU and
two Rhode Island high school teams), Greater Boston invited Kristine Lilly onto the TV show to talk about women and sports, expectations and sportsmanship. The video is posted below, but here's the link too!

While the majority of the international schedule has not been released the Cyprus and Algarve Cup dates have been set along with the Asian and European qualifiying tournaments. This will directly effect the Breakers with Alex Scott and Kelly Smith playing for England and the projected additions of Shinobu Ohno and Kozue Ando playing for Japan. Other players effected by the international schedule will be Fabiana for Brazil, Amy LePeilbet and Leslie Osbourne for the US.

Citizens of Utah: please rise, stretch, and clap your hands. You are now blessed with a new set of sporting legends that have earned their place among the best in the Beehive State.
I issue this edict, this fatwa of football fanaticism: Real Salt Lake is officially The Real Deal.
Jason Kreis may as well have been Jesus Christ in Seattle on Sunday. His club defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 5-4 on penalties to lift their first Philip Anschutz Trophy, and their first-ever Major League Soccer champ…

Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake: A Play By Play (and Other Miscellany)
T-120 to kickoff: Ahhh, Seattle, Washington. The home of grunge rock, good health, great coffee, and a solid club that fell short of earning its stripes and home field advantage.
You gotta give credit to the Seattle Sounders Football Club for earning the U.S. Open Cup in their first season promoted from the USL to the MLS as an expansion team. And their supporters, led by the Emerald City Supporters, earn my respect f…

Hello
It's been ahwile since my last blog post, so we decided to give our fans an update. This blog is DIRECT from Head Coach Jim Gabarra. We understand it appears that we've been quite during this off-season (no trades, no free agent transactions etc.)- however, it is far from the truth. We did pursue (and aggressively at times), a few free agents, and have been approached about various trades. However, our stance is, we aren't going to make a player move, just for the sake of saying we have ma…

I was just looking on Yahoo.com and I found this article about a company buying a stadium. What really caught my attention was when they said that "The company plans to refurbish the Silverdome into a stadium for
men's Major League Soccer and women's professional soccer teams." For those of you who don't know, the Silverdome is in Pontiac, Mich. and use to be the home of the Detroit Lions.…

Hey everybody,
Amanda here from the WPS Web Department. I've noticed a bit of spam in the Fan Corner lately, so I wanted to send a note and let you know we're doing our best to Ban Members that appear to be link-dropping, selling products, or pitching unrelated items. I'm generally pretty good about catching them blogging and immediately deleting the Profiles, but if you see spammy posts in the Forums…

ST. LOUIS, MO (November 10, 2009) – Elise Weber found herself in a situation that many rookie players in the WPS went through in 2009. Weber realized that the WPS is one tough league, and a league not particularly easy for first year professionals.
“During my first professional season, I realized that I needed work in several areas of my game,” said Weber. “I know I can improve in these areas through repetitive individual work.”
Weber didn’t get to do a lot of this type of training at this tim…

So it's been rather quiet on the blog front excluding the whole Lambret incident, the only thing I'll say about that is it brought attention to women's soccer for the wrong reasons but attention none the less. I figured since I'm taking an incredibly hard history class why not put a spin on the subject on an area that I can actually focus on. That brings me to the womens national team. This is just some stuff that I found interesting about the previous years of the team.
Our first game in 1985…

ST. LOUIS, MO (November 4, 2009) – Eniola Aluko has not had much time to catch her breath since her first season with Saint Louis Athletica ended. Aluko had to depart St. Louis before the season was even finished since she was required to report to England’s training camp in preparation for the 2009 Women’s European Championships. In fact, her last game with Athletica was on August 9 in San Jose, California. 48 hours later she was back across the Atlantic.
The European Championships turned out…

From the Associated Press...
HANNOVER, Germany (AP) -- More than 45,000 fans gathered Sunday at the Hannover stadium for a memorial service for Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke, whose suicide has shaken the country.
''Robert Enke will never come back to this stadium, the place where he conquered our hearts,'' Hannover club president Martin Kind said at the beginning of the ceremony. ''But it wasn't only his success that made Robert Enke so popular, it was the man, his personality.''
The 32-year…

Yea i know about the roughness of soccer. Tell me bout it. I might as well give my opinion like everyone else...
I guess you can say the soccer talk of the week was how that lambert girl from New Mexico totally "ruined" the game of women's soccer. Happening in the same week, those two high school teams broke out into a fight during a game in like Rhode Island or Massachusetts or something.
I saw the highlights of the NM and BYU game on youtube a couple day ago and DARN! that girl is FIESTY!
I…

Everyone keeps blah blah yapping about the beautiful game this the beautiful game that, what they fail to understand is the true nature of football. Football is the only sport that can explain the world. Go to your local Mexican adult league game and tell me thats a clean soccer game, even the so called beautiful brazil, look what Rivoldo did against turkey out in the open he cheated and took advantage brazil would not have won if it wasnt for Rivoldo using his method or even most recently what…
