WEDNESDAYS WITH WILSON... June 10

Welcome to Wednesday’s with Wilson! I’m Kandace Wilson and I play with the FC Gold Pride WPS team. Sixteen days prior to today, I was injured in a game vs. LA Sol in the 90th minute of play and from the x-rays; it was clearly proven that I have a fractured hip. This has been one of the… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... Got Our Swag On

Monday, June 1

When we walked into the Washington Freedom visitor locker room yesterday we noticed something different about the uniform lineup. For the first time all season my jersey (8) was next to Leslie’s jersey (10). It was official that we were missing our #9: Kandace Wilson.… Continue

Tiffany Weimer...My Favorite WPS Player

Wednesday, May 20

Yes I realize it may be a bit of a biased choice for favorite player, but at this point that can’t be helped. So, congratulations Carrie Dew on being selected as Tiffany Weimer’s Favorite WPS Player. Even though Dew already knows this and is totally overwh… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... Soccer, Friends and Facebook.

Sunday May 17th

Me and Chioma Igwe in Saturday's match This weekend we played at Chicago where we won our first road game of the season. We beat the Red Stars 1-0 on a windy night in Chi-town and what a great feeling it is to travel back home winners. While in Chicago I was a… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... it won't happen again!

Sunday May 10th As I’m sure everyone is aware, I missed a penalty kick in the game against Sky Blue last weekend. If it wasn’t enough that I missed it for myself, my grandmother (who expects me to score every game or she is totally bummed) reacted as if it was the end of the world. There was the “No, Tiff…no” and the long silent pause. After the game I was pretty sure I was over it because we won (thank you Leigh Ann) but then hearing the awful sound of disappointment in my grandmother’s voice… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... My Mom

Monday, May 11th We’re on a plane coming back from St. Louis where we just lost our third game of the season. It was one of those games we just want to put it behind us, and that is exactly what I’m doing. So I’m thinking about today, which happens to be Mother’s Day, probably the most necessary holiday ever created. I wish I could be with my mom today, but unfortunately she is on the other side of the country. Since I cannot be with her today I decided to dedicate this blog to her. My paren… Continue

Tiffany Weimer...GOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

Monday, April 27

“We broke the curse!” That’s what Sinclair and I said to each other after she scored her first WPS goal yesterday against the Freedom. Neither of us had scored in the first three matches of the season and that totally felt like eternity. So for… Continue

Tiffany Weimer...OCHO

Friday, March 17th Someone recently asked about my tattoo and I thought it would be a good time to talk about it, especially because this is my 8th blog. So I was in Finland and my roommate (who is also American and awesome btw) was totally spontaneous and went to a tattoo shop on the wa… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... Cross Coutnry Meatballs!

Sunday April 12th Flying back from New Jersey is so bittersweet. On the one hand I am going back to nice weather and my new home away from home. But on the other hand I’m leaving my family again. Even though I was only able to see them for a short period of time, I definitely got the dosage I needed. Our assistant coach Jay even said my “east coast accent” became stronger in the few days I was there. So, it was nice to have a little taste of home. Speaking of a taste of home- I’m actually bri… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... Road Trippin'

Thursday April 9th Is it too much to ask to have a smooth travel day? Our bus was an hour late in picking us up as it was stuck in traffic. Barnie, Kandace, Kim and I didn’t even have a ticket in the system when we arrived at the airport and we had to wait an hour for our travel a… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... The Day Has Come!

Friday April 4th After I graduated from Penn State there was no professional soccer for women in the United States. That was three years ago and ever since then I’ve been waiting for this day to come. Tomorrow the FC Gold Pride will make its debut in the WPS with a home game against… Continue

Tiffany Weimer... Making the Adjustment

Friday March 27th Okay. It finally hit me. I am living in California for the next five months. It is a known fact that the Northeast is the best place in the country, but I’m going to have to say NorCal is a close second. It has and will continue to take some adjusting on my part, but so far so good…with a few exceptions of course. First things first- where is Dunkin Donuts? And what about drive-thru banking? I don’t think I’ve seen a bank yet with it. And maybe a good deli or good pizza wou… Continue

Tiffany Weimer: Roster is set...

Saturday March 24th For the past month players and staff have been working to make it to the point we are at today- completion of the final roster. We have gone from 28 players at the beginning of March to a top 18 with four developmental players. It’s been hard to see people come and go throughout the month, but that is now part of the game. Albertin said time and time again how difficult the process would be for everyone and he wasn’t kidding. In our first training as a team he congratulate… Continue

3.17.09 from Tiffany Weimer

I realize I failed to mention that it was a game day in my last entry. We were flying into LA Saturday morning to play that night. We arrived at LAX around noon, but waited over two hours for the vans to pick us up. Again, it was a game day. At the hotel our pre-game meal awaited and with only a couple hours to relax, it really didn’t seem like we had a game that day. I knew I wasn’t going to play because I had been injured with a strained quad for the last week and a half, but as any soccer… Continue

Tiffany Weimer checks in on her way to Los Angeles

Saturday March 14th: My life should not be this eventful before 10am, ever. At 5:55 a.m. my phone went off from a friend in London asking if I was watching “my boy” Fernando Torres killing it for Liverpool…can’t be that hard to remember the time difference, right? Throwing my head back on the pillow, I realized I only had 30 minutes left to sleep. When my alarm actually went off I thought it was another unintentional wake up call, but this one was for real. Since I didn’t pack at all the nig… Continue
