SO we have this tradition in the office (Started by the lovely and enthusiastic
Amanda Vandervort) called
HIGH FIVE FRIDAY.
It’s a fun thing we look forward to every week, where we just go around and give high fives to each other to keep us motivated and to let everyone know how proud we are of them for putting all they’ve got into this organization. That being said, the British seem to not be quite fond of this…

I'm related to Carli Lloyd by some degree of separation - no, not by blood
technically, but by soccer blood. No big deal though.
So it all started a few days ago when I let my formed college soccer coaches know that I was going to the NSCAA convention and would love to meet up with them would be there too. But for some reason I had lost one of my old coaches emails, so had to look on the
University of Dayton's…

If you haven't yet heard, unfortunately
Kate Markgraf will be missing the 2009 WPS Season this spring summer because she's having a baby! But what better of a reason to miss a season than having a new soccer star come into this world!?
Kate won't be with us this season, but she'll still be involved as much as she can with the Red Stars, and will be back to play for us in the 2010 WPS Season.
And I'll have you kno…

It's official, I've been hired as the
Marketing and New Media Manager for the Red Stars after 5 months of interning here... and I couldn't have asked for a better New Year's present!
I love whateverything about this place, and well I guess that's why I was hired (Although I guess driving to Toyota Park everyday somewhat impacts my wallet, and most importantly the environment, so that's the only downfall to working h…

The big 2-3 was reality check for me, but just like any other day at work, it was fun, exciting, and full of surprises.
Although I secretly knew a few days earlier, it was a shock to the majority of my co-workers in our staff meeting yesterday morning that
Amanda Vandervort was leaving us to take a job at the WPS office. So while I was so excited for her to move back to her home of San Francisco and get out of the cold brutal winters of Chicago, I h…

Well folks, I've found my dream job. No not really, but everyone could see my eyes light up with excitement last week when we met with Jim Howells, the AV video board technician/director/guru at
Toyota Park.
It was an overcast, chilly day last week when
Amber Simons,
Amanda Vandervort and I had a meeting with J…

I am practically speechless.
Last night was one of the greatest moments of my life, something that I will remember being apart of for the rest of my life.
While it's hard for me to capture my true feelings and reactions of the history that was made last night, I will try to recapture it here so many of you that weren't fortunate enough to be involved can try and imagine the comatose of ecstasy that…

Wow, time sure does fly by in this office, I can't believe it's the end of October already!
More shocking is that I haven't blogged in over a MONTH! I guess I'm doing so much behind the scenes work and trying to raise hits on everyone else's websites by pestering them about how important it is for them to blog, that I haven't even had time to do my own. Tsk Tsk Elly.
You can call me a hypocrite if you must, but here's some of the very exciting things that I've been doing over the past month, as…

Believe it or not, my excuse has been I haven't had any time to blog… because I seriously haven't! We've all been putting in extremely long hours at the
office over the past two weeks, getting ready for USWNT
allocations, the
USWNT game vs. Ireland here at…

wa wa wee wa, I'm getting more and more pumped for this USWNT vs. Ireland on Sept. 20th at Toyota Park here in Chicago! I just can't believe they're actually coming here AND we'll have our USWNT players allocated at that time and will make their DEBUT that night!
Here's what else we got going on as far as events and funtimes here at Toyota Park for the next month:
Chivas vs. Clu…

This morning, I had the opportunity to make it out to the
Chicago Fire practice. What an experience! In all my years, I've never been to a pro's practice, so it was a ton of fun to watch the players while standing on the bleachers outside the practice field. However I was lucky enough to get to go INSIDE the fence and get an up-close view of professional soccer and meet some of the players.
Seeing the Fire working on soccer funda…

On the way to work this morning, right before I pulled into the parking lot of the
Toyota Park, I noticed that a poor little
turtle was in the middle of the road. I made sure to steer clear of it, but then felt like someone behind me was going to run it over, so immediately parked my car, and sprinted over.
I couldn't find the poor little guy anywhere, and thought that someone had smushed it to the ground or that I was delusional for thinking I ha…

Goodness gracious it couldn't have been a better game yesterday.
Starting off at 5 am at
the Globe Pub to watch Japan take on Germany was fantastic. A little early I must say, but the Olympics only come once every four years, so it was well worth it. And what an interesting
match!
But then the anticipation and lack of sleep kicked in as we waited at the bar a…

Although we didn't get to have a viewing party this morning at the Globe Pub like we do for the USWNT games, we still were all in the office bright and early streaming live video (how cool is technology?!) of the Argentina vs. Brazil Men's semi-final this morning.
There were some in-office disputes, but needless to say, my team came up on top. Now now, I'm not the type to just go and cheer for the number one team in the world, I have legit ties to the Argentina National Team.
I'm not a family…

Another GLORIOUS 5 am start this morning at the Globe Pub... The wonderful owner Stuart and his cute cute dog, Duke, were there bright and early awaiting the rambunctious crowd of fans with sleep still in their eyes. But don't be fooled, because we were ready to go. And as soon as the Brazil vs. Germany game started and Germany scored right off the bat, we didn't know WHAT was bound to happen. But by the grace of some mighty all-being of footwork, power and speed magic, Brazil stepped it up and…

Not only did I get to visit the corperate McDonald's office and Hamburger University yesterday, but I had the absolute pleasure of spending a morning at summer camp with the Hawks SC girls. They were so full of energy and I couldn't believe their speed and skill! I remember my club team practices when I was there age, and we never seemed that talented (although we were always 1st in the league, so I guess we kind of were), but overall I was just so impressed by them. We really had a great day co…
