Goodbye WPS office, Hello LOS ANGELES SOL!

The league offices in San Francisco are a real treat if you ever get the chance to stop by. I have been lucky enough to be an intern at the League Headquarters for the past five months. It has been a great time and an incredible learning experience. I thought I would take a second to let you get to know the faces making this league come to life.
I came into the internship unknowing of what it would entail and how much I would fall in love with this league. I have been a soccer fan and player for many years and having the chance to work in the realm of women's soccer always seemed so far away. But, I got lucky. The greatest part is that the group running this league, behind the scenes, working beyond "normal" hours are a bunch of insanely cool people. Tonya, the commissioner is incredibly down to earth and intelligent. I feel so confident in her leadership and her inspiration, that it makes supporting the league that much easier. The office itself was a fun place, where you can often find Aaron, Operations Manager, singing while answering endless fan questions. Aaron, Jill and I hold down the fort on the south end of the office and have shared a lunch or 10. It's a good crowd. There is always a lot of laughing as well, usually resonating from all the offices. It was so interesting for me to see how everyone works so well together, Mary the COO jumped on board as I started and has been non stop ever since. Jason is so funny, takes care of Business Development and is strangely very good at accents. Vicki works with Jason making this league come to life. And Rachel and Jill, quite the duo, and the reason you will see WPS everywhere in the months to come.
Aileen holds the fort down here. If it wasn't for her the WPS offices and WPS itself might never know what smooth sailing means. If you come visit, she is the first face you'll see.
Karyn is the lady who makes everything happen and who took me on board. Everything you know from the site is due to the mastermind behind the computer. Amanda, our newest hire, is right there with her and really knows her stuff. I also spent much time working with Rob, PR's main man, who is helping this league explode. There was also the days when I was putting together the Combine Notebook and spent hours with Shienny, our graphic designer, better known as the magician, bringing our ideas to life.
And of course, Jalila the other WPS Intern who I shared many a day with as we organized the Combines. We would make fun of the fact that we were interns, but in reality the staff took us in as more than that.
This league is going to do fantastic, really. After spending time watching this league grow from empty rosters to full teams, logos, sponsorships and more, you can only be inspired.
I have had a blast working with the league, which is why I will continue to, with the LOS ANGELES SOL! Woo hoo! Here I Come LA! I will be part of the SOL's event team, so look out.
Also, the league is offering
intern positions. You should check them out if you are interested. The opportunity opened so many doors for me and I got to meet some great people. If you have it in you and really have the heart and belief that women's soccer is here to stay, this job is for you. More so than all of that, you have the chance to be a part of an incredible league, the year it begins, as history unfolds. Don't miss your chance. And a perk, there is a popcorn machine in the office. Yes, really.
Thanks to WPS for their love.
Peace out.
-Susana
