THE WORLD OF WOMENS SOCCER IN POTT'S MIND. USA WON-GERMS ZEEEERRROOOOOO

It's been a while since I've been on here. I have been going through some life changes. Some good, some....not so good. I don't dwell on the past and never fret at things I cannot change but I do like to bring one thing up when it comes to women's soccer, the 2007 WWC. Even though I wasn't on the field, on the team, or in the stadium I felt the pain, the emotion, the anger, the hatred and the heat. From the time I heard that Greg Ryan was doing a changing of the guard I knew it was a call for disaster. I'm sure these have been asked over and over again before but I have a couple of unanswered questions because I don't think I've ever heard the answers; 1. Why? Greg, Can I call you Greg? (I can think of a few other names but I'll stick with Greg) Why, Greg, would you ever take a goalie of Hope's caliber and throw in a washed up goalie just because she did well in the previous tournament THREE years prior? I don't get it. So Greg, if you are reading this please answer my question. I would like to know what you were thinking. You ever think that maybe that was a terrible idea. I sure did and so did everyone else who knows soccer. 2. Why didn't the captain speak up? Yes, Lil I'm talking to you. I know deep down inside you thought this dude was a fool for putting in Bri. There is more to this question I could ask but I just want to know what was going on in your head too. That switch will go down in history as the most idiotic move ever in the game of women's soccer in my book. I'm sure most of you could agree. I know Hope's team got mad at her after her little fiasco with the news but if I was on the team I wouldn't have even played with Bri in the box. I might be saying this because I'm not on the team but I don't know why nobody spoke up, or did they and we didn't know about it. Yeah Bri was once the bomb and everyone else was the grenade but that was then and this is now. There is a new kid in town and she is not to be reckoned with. The 1999 squad would get smashed by these kids. STOP BEFORE YOU YELL AT ME FOR SAYING SUCH THINGS BUT ITS TRUE. From the front to the back line you can't compare. Yes, they led the way to where this team is today and I praise them for it but that sting from 2007 still lingers. Anyways, whats really on my mind is what's going on in the WPS with all these trades and signings. I am a CRS and I stand by them 100% no matter what but what I don't like are players like Carli Lloyd signing with SBFC. WTF? Are you mad at the team, coaching staff, us-the fans? Or are you embarrassed because you played like crap and feel if you go to another team you might do better? RUBBISH. Carli, you really weren't any type of asset to Chicago anyways. I mean, yeah as a fan I'm bitter we didn't make it to the play offs but as a player you really didn't bring anything to the table. Your a ball hog. You make this great run and have players open on each side of you then you fudge it all up. I watched the US Germany game on the net and you kept making these great runs and you hustled but then you'd lose the ball and cry like a baby. I don't think you appreciated Chicago as much as we thought you did. You could have at least tried, you chose to be here, we didn't choose you. But you were picked for a reason. I'm not the coach but I do have a right to state my opinion. Carli, you should have retired with A.H. On another note I'd like to welcome to our newest CRS, J. Sitch, I hope you have a pleasant stay. Now, Back to the USA v GER, one word, wow. The fight, the heart, the faith, the blood, the sweat, the tears and the women who made it all happen, my heros. The old and new. Even the ones younger than me, I still look up to you. With out women's soccer I don't know what else I'd love.

PS. BIG UPS TO E. MASAR, CRS FANS LOVE YOU. I had like 10 different people text me as soon you were on your feet. We're all watching.

i reread...makes sense now......i do agree, lilly handled the press part of it the right way. i am curious as to if she went to coach though.....

I know u said nothing about the press, I was giving the example of what not to do compared to what lilly did

i never said her going to the press was the right thing....... i didnt even talk about her going to the press...i talked about Lily.......talking to coach is diffrent than talking to the media.

Katie, Ive spoken with my coaches as well when I do not agree. What I do not do is go tell the school news papers or people outside of the team about our disagreement. Hope Solo was completly right with what she said, but she should not have spoken out to the media like that. Even her team mates who had the same sentiments did not like how she spoke to the media. Lily is a true professional.

Katie, more fans should be more like yourself always looking at the brighter side of things, and not holding grudges.

Pott Rocks, I really hope u learn not to feel that away about Llyod. In all the interviews she had about chicago she never once dissd the fans or organization, she said it just wasn't a good fit. Look at ARod the same as in boston, these things happen to these athletes. Me personally i would hate to play for a team where the fans hate me because Im trying to better my life. Chicago does not seem inviting, I hope you don't speak for all chicago red star fans.

thanks but I don't think I'm the only one that believes these girls could take the 99 team with the exception of Markgraf and Rampone that played on that team too. I was just laying down what I thought. Don't call me crazy. It is what it is. I'm sticking by everything I said.

Bri was and still is a good player. I love Hope but Bris achieved things that Hope hasnt yet. The decision was crappy and Lil not speakingup can be taken both ways - she was keeping the team together, there was no need for tension on the field - and - she was being "shy" as a player and a captain i can honestly say I have gone up the the coach and told him what I felt from time to time - like when coach chose to play me on the field and our second string goalie in the goal....we got slammed, when i confronted coach she said it was to put her in her place bc she had been complaining about play time.

the '99 team against todays team would be a great game! i dont th ink the new kids would destroy them but i dont think they would lose either. Mia against players like TK!? thats a game i would pay to see.

lloyd can go. shes didnt preform for us. but we cant be mad - it opened a spot on the roster for us to bring in my favorite JULIANNE SITCH!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! ok, now that i got that out there, lloyd will/will not be missed but we dont know whats going on with her so we need to see how she does back home....maybe she needs her family close to her.

as for the USWNT game MASAR I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! and Way to go ladies...keep it up!!!!!!

WoW, WOW! where do i begin. Im not gonna slam you as a person cuz i dont know you and that would be rude. I will thou slam ur gibberish chicken scratch haha. As far as Greggy boy goes, yeah what a retarded freakin move. A drunken 8 year old could have done better with that decision. As far as Captain Fantastic, she played the roll better than anyone could have. As a captain you are not supposed to speak out against the coach, but in turn be an example of how to carry the coaches orders. Yeah he made the wrong decision but formations and individual players dont win championships its the team as a collective whole fighting for the same cause that wins championships. Lilly would have done more harm to her team if she would have spoken out of line, that would have just created more division. People look up to her, she has to be cool calm and stable. She did her best to keep everything in the locker room within their family. They were living right then and there in the moment, freaking out because of decisions you can not change will not solve the matter at hand.

And perhaps the most unintelligent comment ive heard in a years, "The 1999 squad would get smashed by these kids". You must haven been drunk, high, and rummaging through grandmas medicine cabinet when you wrote that comment. WOW, Mia hamn would MURDER ANY OF THOSE DEFENDERS ON THE USA SQUAD TODAY. The 1999 team was stacked with all stars at their peak, dont be fooled by the new slick uniforms. None of those girls on the field against germany would be anything without 99. Thats like saying Carmelo Anthony is better than MICHAEL JORDAN. OBLIVIOUSLY YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE DREAM TEAM. Mia Hamn had a gatorade commercial with Micheal Jordan. Ur in chicago right, there should be alot of bums there. Go up to a bum and ask if they know who Abby Wambach is, then ask if they know who Mia Hamn is. Abby Wambach who? compared to Mia Hamn she is a nobody, compare the whole Usa squad to Mia Hamn alone they are just a bunch of nobodies. I'm a guy, and Even I know that 1999 squad was the best womens soccer team to ever play. Check the stats, ask around and watch more soccer. PS Womens adult league sunday soccer dont count, watch real soccer. Where are you getting your material from, "From the front to the back line you can't compare" wow, i bet you voted for Sarah Palin.

I do agree to certain extents on Carli Llyod she did not do well for Chicago at all and didn't do well this last game for USA either (but seriously besides the two centerbacks and hope who did well). Its soo hard for someone who has never played professionally to understand the decisions made by these athletes. Carli Llyod I used to think she was good but not soo much anymore, this last season in WPS and with national team she is struggling. There obviously are some underlining issues the girl is going through. I think for her to find her balance, she had to go somewhere where she was comfortable and theres no place like home. Also you cant forget, this is a business as well. Maybe Chicago felt they could get more bang for their buck. Its not like these girls are getting millions, you go where they are gonna feed you the best. Yeah she chose to play in chicago, she found out it wasn't a good fit. Whats wrong with trying to fix your situation. Look they do this for a living, they pour their hearts into this game. When things arent going right yeah it sucks for the fans, but for the athletes thats their life, thats what they do to support themselves and family. Chicago had way to much talent to suck as bad as they did, something needed to change and it takes a very strong person to admit that your the person who needs to change. Thats what Carly Llyod did. You have no clue what her personal life situation is, you have no clue what the girl may be going through away from the public eye. To bash her like you are, for saying she should stop the one thing that may bring joy in her life, seriously WHO ARE YOU?

When Carli shows up playing against chicago you can boooe the heck out of her all you want, you can say what you feel will throw her off her game but to say things and hope some ones career ends, even you have to admit thats messed up. Thats what haters do, not opposing fans "Carli, you should have retired with A.H." she made a decision that she felt will improve her own life, Carli Llyod aint living for none of you fans. And your a chick, you should be doing whatever it takes to promote the game not smear players who are trying to provide a future for womens soccer. Shame on you, She is from New Jersey, thats called good business.

dont get offended, I respect that you spoke ur mind, im just speakin mine.
